“The power of a fancy toe sweater is not to be underestimated”
Once upon a time, I used to love styling fashion models in ankle socks with open toe shoes, in the hope of adding a little below the ankle creativity to their outfits.
Since those days, my little styling trick continues to be my go to look for livening up my otherwise standard day to day outfits. Just by adding a pop of colour between my jean hems and ankle boots gives me some good old fashioned aesthetic pleasure.
It is also the ultimate below-the-knee transitional weather style hack, for introducing an additional layer of warmth, between your ankles & toes. Not to mention the practicality of protecting your tootsies from blisters whilst negotiating the school run.
I also love how socks aren’t just socks, but the perfect accessory for showcasing my personal style. The perfect mechanism for making my everyday Mum uniform, more me, whilst expressing my individualism.
When it comes to braving this street style trend, my advice is, don’t overthink it. Pick out a key colour or tone from your outfit and tie it into your socks. You want your sock to look intentional and ultimately tie your whole outfit together.
This month I’ve teamed up with the Sock Shop, home to over 70 brands of socks, hosiery and underwear. Their collection of Bamboo socks in particular feel like heaven on my feet, due to how beautifully soft they are.
Due to their extensive range of colours, I was able to layer a 2 pack of berry tone styles, to compliment my dress. I love how they became a thoughtful component of my overall ensemble instead of a random or forced addition.
