Today I wanted to talk to you about forever pieces, those everyday style essentials, that promise to elevate your day-to-day look. These are the core classics that are the building blocks to your wardrobe and will ensure you always look and feel together.
As the conversations around fashion are changing, longevity and sustainability are now elements we now think about whilst shopping. Investing once in high-quality pieces ensures these basics last a few years… Think buy less choose better.
With this in mind today I wanted to introduce you to Baukjen, a clothing brand of elevated everyday essentials that promise to upgrade your capsule wardrobe. I was introduced to the brand after wearing their sister collection Isabella Oliver whilst pregnant with Posy.
The Baukjen range is a collection of foundational pieces infused with timeless essentials with a nod to seasonal trends. Sustainability also plays an important role with many of the fabrics deriving from natural fibres, which also gives them the feeling of luxury dressing. For me, the beauty of the collection is the ability to mix and match any element of the range and create multiple looks. Looks that can take you from day to evening and have the practically you need when it comes to parenting.
As someone who recently gave birth, my body is undergoing constant changes, therefore dressing can be stressful. I’m also keen to get out of my maternity jeans so I can begin to feel like my old self. The Wren Skinny Jeans that promised to give me the ultimate fit, did just that. They managed to smooth down my Mum tum without the pain that can come with restrictive denim.
I’ve been keen for some time to update my khaki jacket for something more modern and structured. The Drake Utility Jacket is the perfect balance of everyday classic, with a hint of the utility trend, that is big for spring summer. The super soft fabric feels likes heaven on my skin and it adds instant fashionability to any outfit. Even my trustee nursery run duo of leggings and knitted tee.
When it comes to jersey basics my wardrobe is varied when it comes to quality. I have Breton tops that have stood the test of time and equally t-shirts thst have now become bed vests. I completely fell in love with the Bridget Relaxed Tee both for the beautiful feminine tone of pink and it’s relaxed fit (style tip: size up). This little tee proves that basic doesn’t have to mean boring.
One area of our wardrobe, us Mum’s neglect, is true luxury dressing. In a world of fast fashion it’s so much easier to replace silk with polyester, especially when it comes to blouses and dresses. Affordability will always win when you are raising a family, however when it does comes down to treating ourselves, invest in timeless pieces. With that in mind I want to introduce you to the Fenella Silk Blouse the epitome of elevated everyday essentials. It has the styling details we have come to associate with pj dressing and the rose pink colour that evokes femininity. Dress down as I have done with the Relaxed Cargo Trousers or dress up with tailoring for those rare but beautiful special occasions.
What is the one thing in your wardrobe you cannot live without and the one thing you’re missing? X
